New artistic residency in collaboration with the Pontevedra Museum and Matadero Madrid

We are honoured to announce a new collaboration with the Pontevedra Museum for two artistic residencies that will take place between February and April 2025.
This collaboration marks an exciting new step in the Walter & Nicole Leblanc Foundation artist residency programme launched in 2023.

Focusing on artistic research from our records, this programme serves as a dynamic platform that encourages experimentation and dialogue between Leblanc's work and new generations of artists and cultural professionals.

By signing agreements with the Fondation Walter & Nicole Leblanc in Brussels and the Matadero Madrid Contemporary Creation Center, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra will launch the Novos Valores artist residency program.
The program will send two emerging creators from the region for residencies at these prestigious institutions, culminating in the presentation of their works at the Pontevedra Biennial next summer.
This change enables the latest generation of Galician artists, curators, and researchers to engage with two of Europe’s top contemporary art centers —transforming the Museo de Pontevedra from a mere exhibition space into an incubator for new artistic production.
The call for applications offers two grants to support the creation of contemporary art. Selected participants will enjoy a four-week residency at the Fondation Walter & Nicole Leblanc in Brussels between February and April, followed by a three-month residency at Matadero Madrid from April to July.
Candidates must submit a specific, original, and previously unpublished artistic project in any visual medium. The work will be produced during the residencies and showcased at the 32nd Pontevedra Biennial, scheduled from July 21 to September 30, 2025. Each selected artist will receive a €9,500 grant.
